Ripple co-founder, Chris Larsen, has made a notable contribution to the upcoming political scene with a donation of 1,754,815.29 XRP, or approximately $1 million, to the Harris-Walz 2024 Presidential campaign. This generous donation, disclosed in Federal Election Commission (FEC) records, marks the first publicized cryptocurrency contribution to the Harris campaign, as discussed by Fox Business reporter Eleanor Terrett. The donation was made to the pro-Harris political action committee Future Forward, which, as of October 2024, has amassed over $200 million in contributions.
Larsen’s support of Harris doesn’t stop at his donation. Alongside 87 other corporate executives, Larsen has publicly endorsed Harris for her pro-business stance and commitment to the growth of US industries. “With Kamala Harris in the White House, the business community can be confident that it will have a President who wants American industries to thrive,” they stated in a collective letter.
In a bid to coax a positive stance from Harris on US digital asset policy, several crypto industry advocate groups and executives have pledged to raise $100,000 for her campaign. The hope is to shift the administration’s current critical view of the crypto industry. In response to this pressure and outreach from the industry, Harris has finally made a statement about her potential crypto policy, indicating a desire to stimulate tech innovation while safeguarding consumers and investors.
