A recent report from Franklin Templeton forecasts a transformative impact of artificial intelligence (AI) agents on social media content generation, igniting a surge in AI-based tokens. The report envisions a potential future with AI agents playing a critical role across various industries and platforms, corresponding to how human influencers operate currently by launching their own brands, products, music, and movies.
AI agents, also known as agentic AI, are autonomous AI systems capable of understanding complex objectives, conducting multi-step reasoning procedures, decision making, and acting with minimal human input. However, researchers at Franklin Templeton noted that these agents are still in the initial stages of development.
The role of AI in finance control was highlighted by AI researcher, s4mmy, in response to Franklin Templeton’s report, hinting at a promising future for ‘Agentic solutions’. Earlier this year, OpenAI CEO, Sam Altman, also predicted a significant influence of AI agents in businesses by 2025.
In the wake of Franklin Templeton’s report, the surge in AI tokens, particularly Virtuals Protocol (VIRTUAL) and ai16z (AI16Z), was apparent. VIRTUAL experienced an 8% increase, topping $3 during early trading on January 15, while ai16z witnessed a 20% surge, reaching an intraday high of over $1.40. Other AI coins also performed well, showing substantial daily gains.
