The Ethereum co-founder suggested that two significant PoW blockchain technologies should switch to PoS following in Ethereum footsteps.
The question of whether all networks ought to switch to a proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus mechanism was posed by Ryan Selkis at the 2022 Messari Mainnet. In his affirmative response, Buterin said that Dogecoin and Zcash should emulate Ethereum.
Vitalik also predicted that as proof of stake develops, its credibility will only increase over time, as he said via video chat on Friday at the Messari conference.
Buterin has already urged Zcash to make the switch to PoS. In response to his similar suggestion in 2018, Zooko Wilcox-O’Hearn, the creator of Zcash, said that he was waiting for Ethereum to implement it first so that he could monitor how the transition progressed.
Following the Merge event, Ethereum switched to PoS on September 15. The high-stakes event went off without a hitch, according to Buterin, despite the fact that every test network merge had “some sort of issue.”
The Canadian programmer Buterin also spoke about Ethereum’s prospects following the Merge. According to him, Ethereum’s upcoming significant update, the Surge, won’t be comparable to the Merge. Instead of being done all at once, it will be done in phases.
The ecosystem must “deliver on” scalability, according to Buterin, who listed it as the most important task for the upcoming 18 months.
The Merge has made it possible to significantly reduce the blockchain’s negative environmental effects. The second-largest proof-of-work (PoW) cryptocurrency after Bitcoin is now Dogecoin.
