Apple is reportedly nearing the conclusion of negotiations with OpenAI to incorporate the ChatGPT functionality into iPhones. This feature is expected to be part of the upcoming iOS 18 update, based on a report published by Bloomberg on May 11. Additionally, Apple is said to be in conversation with Alphabet, Google’s parent company, about potentially integrating the Gemini chatbot. However, these discussions are not as advanced as those with OpenAI.
It is not clear yet if users will have the ability to disable the ChatGPT features in the new update. Previously, concerns arose that Apple had restricted company usage of ChatGPT due to potential risks to sensitive data security.
Recently, persistent reports suggest Apple is intensifying efforts to establish an in-house artificial intelligence (AI) division. On April 30, it was reported that Apple was headhunting experts from Google to build an AI and machine learning team. Additionally, the tech giant has recently purchased two AI startups located in Zurich, Switzerland, leading to the creation of a discreet “Vision Lab” in the region.
During Apple’s recent presentation showcasing its M4 chip for the new iPad, it referenced Octane, a 3D design software powered by the Render Network. This led to an 11% jump in Render Token (RNDR), making it the best performer amongst the top 10 AI tokens over the past week. However, in comparison, Fetch.ai (FET) declined by 0.77% and SingularityNET (AGIX) decreased by 0.15% over the same period, according to CoinMarketCap data.
