Three months ago, a fundraiser spearheaded by Solana-based meme coin Dogwifhat raised a substantial $700,000, yet their initial plan to adorn the Las Vegas Sphere with the token’s mascot is still to materialize. Given the lapse in time, donors are now growing impatient, with some even demanding a refund.
According to Mihir, one of the Dogwifhat fundraiser organizers, progress towards the plan is happening, albeit slowly, and he asks the patient supporters to remember that the organizers are all volunteers, working tirelessly for the meme. The concept, hatched during Dogwifhat token’s impressive run earlier this year, was to utilize the funds raised to stage an ambitious marketing trick with the coin’s mascot on the Las Vegas Sphere.
Thanks to enthusiastic backers, the fundraiser quickly reached its preliminary objective of $650,000, eventually creeping closer to a total of $700,000. However, this pot remains largely untouched, aside from $11,906 in USDC stablecoins that were transferred out of the wallet, triggering some anxiousness among the backers. Mihir also noted that they are discussing costs with the sphere and highlighted the complexities involved in coordinating such an ambitious feat.
Crypto influencer Ansem, who played an instrumental role in the project with his buoyant promotion, has seemingly disappeared, adding fuel to the fire of speculation that the marketing campaign has flopped. Nevertheless, Mihir insists that should the campaign be called off, donors would promptly be informed and funds returned. As it stands, the Sphere representatives and the influencer have declined to comment, adding to the mounting suspense.
