MetaMask has begun rolling out tokenized US stocks, exchange-traded funds, and commodities through Ondo Global Markets, giving eligible non-US users on Ethereum a way to trade traditional assets directly from a self-custodial wallet. The move highlights the industry’s push to merge crypto and traditional markets while navigating strict geographic and regulatory limits.

MetaMask brings tokenized traditional assets into its wallet
MetaMask users outside the United States can now access around 200 tokenized US stocks, ETFs, and commodities such as gold and silver through Ondo Global Markets. The assets are available via MetaMask Swaps, where users exchange Circle’s USDC stablecoin for Ondo’s GM tokens, which aim to track the underlying assets on a one-to-one basis.
The rollout initially supports MetaMask’s mobile app, with desktop integration expected by the end of February through a browser extension. Consensys CEO and Ethereum co-founder Joe Lubin said the integration demonstrates how crypto wallets could simplify access to both digital and traditional assets in a single self-custodial environment, without intermediaries.
Access restricted in the US, UK and other jurisdictions
The launch excludes users in the United States and roughly 30 other countries and regions, including Canada, the European Economic Area, and the United Kingdom. MetaMask said it enforces geographic restrictions through several methods, including IP-based checks, and will block transactions that originate from restricted regions.
Consensys noted that MetaMask is exploring compliant ways to expand access to tokenized real-world assets as regulations evolve. Ondo has positioned its tokenized securities offerings primarily for non-US investors, reflecting ongoing regulatory uncertainty around tokenized equities.
Tokenized real-world assets continue to gain traction
MetaMask’s move adds to a broader push by crypto platforms to integrate real-world assets and prediction markets. Blockchain.com recently partnered with Ondo to bring tokenized RWAs to Europe, while Coinbase has been developing its own platform, Coinbase Tokenize. Trust Wallet also integrated Ondo’s tokenized assets in 2025.
The trend extends beyond tokenized securities. MetaMask and Trust Wallet have both expanded into prediction markets, with MetaMask integrating Polymarket and Coinbase partnering with Kalshi. The growing convergence of crypto wallets, RWAs, and market platforms reflects an industry effort to build all-in-one financial apps.
