Polygon Technologies’ developer relations arm, Polygon Studios, has announced new appointments to help drive the company’s growth in the Web3 blockchain gaming area.
According to a statement released by Polygon Studios on Tuesday, Michael Blank has been named COO and Young Ko has been designated CFO. The new personnel will work under newly appointed CEO Ryan Wyatt, who previously led YouTube’s gaming division.
Blank formerly worked at Electronic Arts (EA) for nearly two decades, most recently as senior vice president of Player Network. He oversaw global teams responsible for EA’s direct-to-consumer digital gaming platform and social environment in that role.
Young was the vice president of finance at Penske Media for the past nine years, overseeing brands such as Rolling Stone, Billboard, Variety, and SXSW. He was in charge of finance, accounting, treasury, and global tax.
Urvit Goel (VP, Gaming Business Development), Charnjit Bansi (VP, Game Design), Ben Watley (Senior Director of Strategy and Gaming), and Will Matteson have all also joined Polygon Studios (Corporate Strategy Manager).
Urvit Goel, a former Amazon executive who will join as VP of gaming business development, founded Amazon’s cloud gaming division.
Charnjit Bansi, who will join as VP of game design, has worked for web2 game development, Infinity Ward, and Sledgehammer Games, the makers of the Call of Duty franchise.
Ben Watley, who will also join as senior director of gaming strategy, formerly worked at Electronic Arts for three years.
Polygon Studios made a $100 million investment in game developer GameOn for future Web3-related projects in December 2021. Atari and Animoca Brands, as well as NFT marketplace OpenSea and metaverse project Decentraland, are listed as partners on Polygon Studios’ official website.
