Donald Trump, who has recently embraced the “crypto president” moniker in this election year, has released a fourth series of NFT trading cards. This collection sees artwork of the Republican hopeful dancing and even showing off Bitcoins, made public via a promotional video on social media.
The latest edition, labeled the “America First Edition”, comes with potential 360,000 trading cards up for grabs, with each NFT going for $99. The NFTs are once again minted on Polygon, Ethereum’s scaling network. This collection outnumbers previous releases, with the official website predicting it to be the most extensive Trump NFT collection.
Notably, the sale comes with added bonuses for high volume purchasers. With enough NFTs bought in one transaction, customers may earn an invitation to a Trump gala dinner in September and a authenticated piece of the suit that Trump wore for the widely discussed debate with President Joe Biden.
Despite the launch of the initial 2022 NFT card collection being ridiculed by mainstream commentators, it sold out within a day, and demand skyrocketed in the secondary market. Now, the latest collection of Trump NFTs will be open for resale from January 31, 2025 on secondary marketplaces. It has been clarified that the proceeds from the sales will not be directed to Trump’s presidential campaign.
Political affiliations aside, Trump’s recent alignment with Bitcoin is turning heads, potentially making cryptocurrency a significant factor in the upcoming election. Known for his controversial opinions, Trump spoke at July’s Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville and promised to safeguard the rights of American miners and establish a national strategic Bitcoin stockpile if voted to power. His Democratic counterpart, Kamala Harris, has yet to publicly announce her stance on Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.
